Defining IT & technology terms

Machine vision

Machine vision uses cameras to analyze a subject based on set parameters and provide data according to what it “sees.” It is related to computer vision, in that they both feature image analysis; however, machine vision is often used in simple pass/fail scenarios. For example, machine vision can be used in a manufacturing plant to identify defects in a production line.

Organizations increasingly rely on machine vision to monitor variables closer, respond faster to data, reduce margins of error and increase production.
