Suma Nallapati

Chief Information Officer

"I believe leading with authenticity is the key to a successful team. It’s fundamental for strong leadership — I try to be as authentic as possible in everything I do."

Get to know Suma.

Suma Nallapati always wanted a career where she could save lives.

As a child, she dreamed of becoming a doctor. But because of steep competition and the high cost of medical school in India, where she grew up, she pursued an electronics degree and earned a master’s degree in nuclear physics.

Then, at her first IT job, she realized you don’t need to be a doctor to help people.

Suma moved to the United States in 1996 and accepted a job as a programmer in Colorado’s booming tech scene. She quickly realized she could positively impact organizations by helping them make smarter business decisions and drive measurable progress with technology.

This interest guided her career, leading her to roles at TeleTech and Catholic Health Initiatives — and even inspiring her to start an IT consulting firm with her husband.

Suma built a reputation as a technology leader, joining the State of Colorado in 2014 as secretary of technology and chief information officer. To her, the most rewarding part of working in the public sector was strategizing and implementing IT initiatives to support vulnerable populations. Though she’s not the doctor she dreamed of becoming, she helps people using the power of technology. One of her proudest achievements was significantly reducing processing times of Medicare and Medicaid eligibility by moving the program to the public cloud.

Suma is fiercely passionate about advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the technology industry. Her experience includes work with the Blind Institute of Technology, LadyCoders and Women in STEM. She was named in 2019 among the Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology by The National Diversity Council.

Suma joined Insight after serving in senior vice president and chief digital officer positions at both Dish Network and Everbridge. She leads a global distributed team of information technology specialists and drives Insight’s digital transformation efforts — including enhancing client experiences, expanding data and digital capabilities, and overseeing day-to-day IT operations and cybersecurity.

“Technology is evolving rapidly and we’re leading this radical transformation for our clients and partners. I’m thrilled to be part of Insight’s vision for creating a better world through technology.”
